NEMA Donates Relief Materials To Storm Victims In Edo

NEMA Donates Relief Materials To Storm Victims In Edo

By Francis Onoiribholo ,Snr Correspondent, Benin

Building materials, household items and foodstuff worth millions of naira were on Thursday presented to the Edo State Government by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) for distribution to victims of natural disasters following the rainstorm in Esan Central, West and Southeast local government areas of the state.

The donation was in response to the request by the state government to cushion the plight of the victims earlier made by the Deputy Governor, Lucky Imasuen.

Imasuen commended the agency for the gesture, concern and promptness, affirming that the state government would continue to respond and identify with the plight of citizens whenever the need arise.

He assured that the materials would be distributed to those truly affected by the disasters, saying that he has confidence in the ability and integrity of the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Sekibat Momodu to distribute the materials properly.

Presenting the items, South-South Zonal Director of NEMA, Benjamin Oghena, on behalf of the Director-General, Audu Bida, appealed to the state government to put machinery in place for effective distribution of the materials to the victims.
