MASSOB Releases List Of Slain MembersBy Chukwujekwu Ilozue, Reporter, OnitshaThe Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), yesterday in Onitsha released a list of 2000 members, allegedly killed by Federal troops between 1999 and April 2008. In a joint press conference by the three regions of the movement in Anambra State (namely Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi Zones), lead by J. C. Edeson Samuel, the movement said the list is not all-inclusive as there are members could not be located up till date. The list showed that members in Onitsha region suffered the highest casualty. 1044 members were listed as those slain in the zone within the period. It was followed by Aba and Owerri Zones, where 422 were killed. In addition, the list showed that 263 members were killed in Okigwe on March 29, 2003. 198 were also slain in Enugu and Abakaliki. Between 2000 and 2006, Abia North region lost 13 members; Arochukwu Area II lost six members; Nkporo Area III lost 10, while Bende Area IV lost five. Other areas where members killed within the period included Okamu Area VII (two); Ihechiowa Area V (four); Abiriba Area VIII (22), while Abam Area VII lost five members.
