According to a source, who was at the meeting where this Special Assistant on Media to a second term governor from a North Central State near Abuja was chosen, it was a weed-induced one. "The room where the decision was taken to choose the Special Assistant on Media for the governor was filled up with Indian hemp smoke. Each of the guys had a rap of marijuana in his hands and with bloodshot eyes they selected the guy whom they presented to His Excellency. They told the governor that they had worked for his re-election and that they would not tolerate the so called experts in the governor's cabinet, who did not fight to make sure the carpenter turned governor was elected," revealed our source.

Well, rather unfortunately, His Excellency fell for the threats from his thugs and he didn't find any other office he could bring someone, whose only expertise is snatching ballot boxes and beating people up, but for the office of his media manager. Though the said governor has an experienced hand as Chief Press Secretary, it goes to show how some of these politicians rate the media.

"These press boys can be handled by anybody. They write what they perceive to be the truth, not what you tell them anyway," this governor must be thinking in his mind. It's no surprise the governor has been on the receiving end in the media. Even after he won at the elections tribunal, the sordid tales surrounding his secondary school certificate has refused to go away.
