Between NASS Members And Olisa Adibua

Not a few people were taken aback by the rather impolite manner renowned broadcaster and showbiz guru, Olisa Adibua, acted during the Abuja leg of THISDAY Fashion and Music Festival. How it happened? Adibua alongside comedian, Basket Mouth, were comperes of the show tagged "Africa Rising". After Rihanna and Jay Z had taken turns on stage, it was then time for Usher to perform. Basket Mouth had done his bit by entertaining the audience with jokes and told Abuja residents not to repeat the treatment meted to Usher the last time he performed in the country.

It would be recalled that fun seekers pelted Usher with pure water sachets at the 2002 edition of Star Mega Jam in Lagos.

Adibua also joined Basket Mouth in appealing to the crowd and thereafter the two of them divided the crowd into two. Basket Mouth took the right side while Adibua took the left. After four trials, the right side had a louder shout, but Adibua wouldn't accept "defeat" as Basket Mouth jokingly told him to do. But in order to get his side to shout louder than Basket Mouth's, Adibua said: "Tonight, I don't care if you're a senator, a minister or an honourable member. There is no difference between the rich and the poor. Everyone should make some noise!"

This did not go down well with many people at the show, not only did Adibua fail to get a louder shout, people tongue-lashed him.

"We know that top government functionaries are human beings just like us, but Adibua had gone too far. If it was difficult for him to get a partying crowd to shout louder, then he should know that to get people to vote you into office is no mean feat," said an angered celebrity standing next to us.
