Ogedengbe Urges Churches To Work With Lagos GovtBy Ekene Okoro, Trainee Reporter, LagosSpecial Assistant to Lagos State Governor on Christian Religious Matters, Rev Sam Ogedengbe, has enjoined churches to cooperate with the state government while being committed to their faith. In his address at the 25th anniversary of the Holy Michael Church Organisation of the Sacred Cherubim and Seraphim Church of Nigeria and Overseas in Lagos recently, Rev Ogedengbe said spiritual support from religious leaders in the state would go a long way in helping the governor, Babatunde Fashola, achieve his objectives and fulfil his electoral promises to the residents of Lagos. He maintained that churches could use their rapport with the congregation to educate them on the need to pay taxes regularly and as well pray for the success of those in governance. Senior Superintendent of the church, Apostle James-Oke Fajemilusi, in his own speech, advised pastors and ministers of God to always heed to their call, and desist from the love of money. Tracing his background on what the Lord has done in his life and ministry for those past 25 years, the he confirmed that "if one actually heeds the call of God" as he did, all other necessary things would be added to such a person's life, unsolicited. Fajemilusi, a former member of African Church, acknowledged the mysterious ways God manifested in his life by leading him to an Aladura Church. According to him, since the establishment of the Church in 1983, the presence of the Lord has been felt in all areas like answered prayers, prophetic revelations, divine visitations and provisions. He maintained that "whosoever works according to God's injunctions" would always be guided by the spirit of the Lord. Men and followers of God, he said, should first of all seek the kingdom of God by heeding to their call before considering what the Lord would do for them in return. "God knows how to compensate those that follow him without looking back. Even, it was revealed in the Bible that seek ye first the kingdom of God, then all other things shall be added unto you," he added.
