Family members, friends and well-wishers will on Tuesday roll out the drums for Chief Hannah Idowu Dideolu (HID) Awolowo as she clocks 93.

Businesswoman, political motivator and philanthropist, and widow of the late sage, Obafemi Awolowo, HID was born on November 25, 1915 in lkenne, Ogun State.

She went to the Saviours School, Faji, Lagos for her primary education and moved on to the Methodist Girls' High School, Lagos.

She started her career as a Businesswoman and was involved in merchardising and supplies. She was usually regarded as a strategist who was always at the background generally organising, motivating and giving inspiration to her husband, in pursuit of his political career. She has also been involved since her husband's demise in contributing greatly to the sustenance and success of the Nigerian Tribune Group of Newspapers.

She is the chairman, Obafemi Awolowo Foundation; Matron, National Association of Nigerian Women in Business. She was president and is life matron, Agbeni Young Women Christian Association, Ibadan; grand matron, Remo Country Club; Egba Akeko Ede Ati Asa Yoruba; matron, lkenne Social Circle.

She was honoured as 'My Jewel of Inestimable Value,' commendation by the legendary sage, the late Obafemi Awolowo. She also won Meritorious Service Award, Ikene Development Association; honorary Doctor of Civil Laws, Obafemi Awolowo University in 1989; Honorary Doctor of Letters, Ogun State University, Ago-Iwoye.
