How Powerful Is Your Vision?By Ebuka-Chukwu EzeuchegbuThere is a revolution underway. Emerging technologies are shaking up old power structures by empowering the individual (YOU). Never before have we as individuals held such power to organise, to be heard, to cause change in the palm of our hands. Look around you; everybody with cell phones, many people with laptops with which they can research and navigate the world, MP3, web cams etc. Whether you are a grassroots organiser, an artist, a craftsman, a computer guy, an educator, a journalist, a technician, a performing artist, etc, you are the new leader. Never before in history have individuals (you and 140 million other Nigerians) held so much power to literally change our land. In the emerging new world, the greatest force for change is no longer political or military might. Militants or freedom fighters can never enforce change in their miserable lives or their communities by killing people. It is the creative force we call VISION that is the greatest force for change and empowerment in the whole world now. How Powerful Is Your Vision? Do you know that about 15 percent of income in Nigeria is earned by the top one percent of the population? It sounds incredible but it is true. Do you also know that 20 percent of Nigerians control about 80 percent of the wealth in the country? It is not only in Nigeria, it is so even in America. Have you ever wondered how that one percent thinks? What do the 15 percent have that you do not have? The questions can be answered for hours with lots of arguments about legitimate wealth and corruption, but let me tell you this; even if the government gave about one million naira each to all the poor men in this country, it will take only a short while for the money to flow back to the 15 percent that have the attraction for it. The top class knows that neither God nor any power is somewhere determining those who will be successful and those who will not. They know that the individual determines his own position in life, according to the amount of intention and intelligent effort exerted. They knows that that there is a source within they can call forth to actualize in their hands the things they want. That is why they focus on their visions, knowing that when they ask, it is always given. After spending more than 20 years interviewing 400 of the most successful men and women alive in America at his time, Napoleon Hill concluded two things, one; all the successful people were already wealthy inside before they became wealthy outside. Two; all the successful people have the ability to tap from a certain power/intelligent on their inside and actualising in their hands without much effort. After interviewing about 200 people in Nigeria (both rich and poor), I discovered that there is a big gap between the thinking of the rich and that of the poor. Civilisation has offered this generation all the outer technology we can tap into to liberate ourselves, but what about inner technology? Mind Your Own Business There two kinds of people in this world; those who make things happen and those who watch things happen. If you really want to be among those who make things happen, if you really want to benefit from the ongoing revolution, you should learn how to mind your own business. Work on yourself. Another definition of insanity is to be thinking and acting the same way and be expecting a different result. You have to develop self-awareness, that means knowing that you have the mind power to direct your life to any direction you want. Vision is knowing what you want in life, and knowing that once you focus on your vision with intensity, it must come to pass. Turn a hubby into a part time business and focus on it. Every time you read the papers or watch TV, you here how the poor and middle class are being hurt, how the people in the oil producing areas are being impoverished. See, there should be massive investment in infrastructure in those areas so as to provide the right environment for the people to unleash their visions. But giving out money to the youths to solve poverty problems is a wasted effort because money is NOT the solution to poverty. In fact, more money increases money problems. Other internal issues (poverty consciousness) must be addressed before any change can occur on the outside. See, I am not against people fighting for their freedom. It is just that I am not a fan of James Bond or anyone like him. I am not impressed by guns or by people that use them. I believe we should be talking about love, it is all we need. The solution is not to pick up guns and start looking for whom to blame. The solution is to get out of the lower and the middle class and move up the income ladder. Improve your entrepreneurial and marketing education. Hoarding your gifts is the surest route to poverty. There is a position in life that your unique talents and skills can serve the greatest number of people and reap for you incredible prosperity. There is a place you are celebrated, not tolerated. Create something we can buy. It is in you. See, the game is set for you to lose. Schools taught you how to get job and serve. They didn't teach you how to mind your own business. Your boss and manager didn't teach you. If you are a thief, freedom fighter or militant, your gang leader can never teach you how to be a boss and mind your own business. The politicians want you t o be ignorant. That is how they take advantage of you. If you are fighting a battle for independence, know it that if you eventually get the new country you are fighting for, the 1% that run things and the 15 percent that control wealth will go home to your new country and start running things there again! They cannot help it, it is whom they are. You can never operate in a higher spiritual and psychological level than your present level of awareness. My friend, mind your own business. The people that hold power in every aspect of life are operating at a different level of mind, and also invested the time to learn the game of money. The lower and middle class haven't. Invest one to four hours every week in working on your mind. That is where the battle is won or lost. Learn how to market, how to sell, how to think like an entrepreneur. Educate yourself more on the field you love. There are millions of things yet to be discovered in that field. You win through education. You win through action. Everytime an expert takes advantage of you; it is because you were not educated on that topic. Look for a field you love, educate yourself in it and start taking advantage of us. The one percent that run things and the 15 percent that control the economy understand the game and are winning at a big level. More people are joining them everyday. The middle and lower class will continue shrinking. Do you want to be left behind or are you ready to make your move. Join me in declaring war against poverty and mediocrity. Just be you. Be great. Make your move. Say to yourself; "I am a visionary. This is a great country and I am going to play a big role in the things that make it work". Do not be left behind. The revolution is going on. Stand forward. Ebuka-Chukwu Ezeuchegbu ebukalive@yahoo.co.uk 08036436242 www.visionnigeria.org .
