PAMRO Perfects Plans For Lagos ConferenceThe annual conference of the Pan African Media Research Organisation (PAMRO) would hold from August 17-19, at Protea Hotel, Lekki, Lagos, organisers announced during the week. PAMRO is an organisation of media researchers and their clients, media owners, marketers, advertisers and advertising agencies in Africa. It was established in 1999 to encourage standards and professionalism in the practice and use of media research and scientific data among member countries, particularly in media planning, budgeting and buying decisions. As Nigeria hosts this year's edition of the summit, Daily Independent learnt that stakeholders would be coming together to ensure a successful outing. To this extent, members of Nigerian Market Research Association (NiMRA), Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MIPAN), Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN), Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN), Outdoor Agencies Association of Nigeria (OAAN), Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN), Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) and other industry groups are expected to contribute towards the hosting of the event. It interesting to know that countries like South Africa, Malawi, Kenya, Tanzania and Ghana had hosted the summit successfully and similar stakeholder contributions were mobilised in hosting the event. In furtherance of this objective, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the Nigerian event said it is presently in the process of sensitising and mobilising support for the event. To ensure efficiency, the association rotates its regular meetings among major stakeholders for hosting. Companies that earlier hosted include Unilever, Nigerian Breweries Plc., WAMCO/Friesland, MediareachOMD, Initiative Media, Resmark, Starcomms Media, DAAR Communications and Market Research Consultancy, among others.
